Polymarket review

Crypto prediction market, order book on Polygon#02EVM

The crypto-native venue: a central order book settled on Polygon, collateral that stays in your wallet, and a fee that depends on the market's category, from nothing in geopolitics to 3.5% at 50¢ in crypto. Access is the catch: 41 countries are blocked or close-only, the US, the UK and France among them, and France's regulator has ordered internet providers to block the site.

Strengths / Limits

Strengths

  • Collateral stays in your wallet and in Polymarket's contracts, never in a company account.
  • No fee on geopolitics markets, and makers pay nothing while sharing 15% to 25% of taker fees.
  • Public resolution through UMA's oracle, with a bond and a challenge window anyone can use.

Limits

  • Blocked or close-only in 41 countries, including the US, the UK, France, Germany and Australia.
  • Front-end breach in June 2026: injected code stole funds from some users, whom Polymarket said it would refund in full.
  • No regulator behind the international venue; Spain, the Netherlands and France acted against it in 2026.

How to start safely

  1. Check that you are allowed to trade

Read the excluded countries on the card. If yours is listed, do not trade there: platforms such as Polymarket forbid getting around their blocks with a VPN in their terms.

  2. Open the official site yourself

Type polymarket.com or use a bookmark: fake prediction market sites and “airdrop” pages are common and drain wallets.

  3. Read the market rules

Every market names its resolution source and its end date. A contract pays on what those rules say, not on what the headline says.

  4. Start small and mind the fee

Fee formulas peak around 50¢. A limit order that waits in the book usually pays less than one that takes the best price, and often nothing.
